About
I’m Mani Parkes an artist from Lincolnshire and I love to create acrylic paintings that make people smile.
Following an Art Foundation course at Lincoln College of Art I studied Illustration at UWE Bristol and then transferred to Edinburgh College of Art where I graduated in 1997 with a BA (Hons ) in Visual Communication.
The day to day sights that I see often inspire my paintings, cycling through the higgledy piggledy streets I love the charming buildings and quirky characters that I see. I love nature, a beautiful pair of spotty wellingtons or a stripey scarf. Sitting in my garden studio I turn my simple sketchbooks doodles into cheerful paintings, I like to use acrylic paint combining a muted palette of chalky blues, greys and whites with an uplifting dash of red.
I exhibit my work in British galleries, paint commissions and I’m lucky to have a selection of paintings published as Limited Edition prints by Aquarelle Publishing.
I sell original framed paintings, tiny paintings on wood and greeting cards published by Green Pebble Publishers.
